Another dream travel location for the Roots is most definitely Norway! My Grandma Cook is 1/2 Norwegian (or something like that) so that makes me somewhat close to 1/8th Norwegian (or something like that) so I think that is good enough reason to go to Norway, don’t you?

My next dream travel location will be another country of my heritage…

This is definitely the largest “sneak peek” I have ever done…but, I just can’t help myself.

The rest of the story to follow soon…

It has been exciting to be able to share our travels every Tuesday and every Tuesday I realize I have been very fortunate to be able to go to all of the places I have been. I have to keep reminding myself of that when I get bummed out that I haven’t been anywhere since last August! Then I look at all of the pictures of all of the places and all is ok. One of those places that we have been to several times is Key West. We’ve never driven there (I think it’s an 8 hour drive from Orlando) but we have been there on numerous times by ship. To me Key West is storybook quaint and peaceful (I’m sure some Spring Breakers might disagree) but that is what it is to me. This is one of our trips a few years ago with a stop in storybook Key West…

A Bridal Shower for Karen

March 15, 2010

A very special friend of mine, Karen, will be getting married next month to the love of her life, Anthony. Last weekend a bridal shower featuring a fun kitchen theme was held for Karen. Her sister, Kristen, did a great job with the games and activities part of the shower. I am absolutely horrible at games. We played this “Name That Spice” game…I could not name one single spice and I use and cook with the majority of them-I guess I just can’t take the pressure! All of Karen’s bridesmaids that live in the Orlando area were there so we had a good time getting some fun girly pictures-what a great shower it was!

That darn “smell this spice and tell me what it is” game…I love the genuine contemplation on Erin’s face
Kelly helped host the shower so of course she is barefoot and in charge of the trash…and looks amazing doing that!My favorite shot of the dayKaren with her sister Kristen (as if I had to tell you that…)

Our Engagement Story

March 13, 2010

Jonathan and I got engaged on March 13th, 2005. At the time we lived in different states. Jonathan was living in Florida and I was living in Texas. We knew very shortly after we met in November 2004 that we were meant to be together forever. We talked about marriage. We looked at rings (I wanted a band-something very simple and understated.) We knew we were going to elope (or have a ceremony in a park with cupcakes!) Jonathan came to visit during the second week in March. My parents drove down from Frisco to be with us for the weekend. That Sunday, AFTER my parents had left…Jonathan proposed (needless to say my Mom wasn’t thrilled that he waited until after they left, but he said he wanted it to be our moment and to be able to share it with Cody.) Jonathan left a few days later to go back to Florida and we didn’t see each other again until we landed in Vegas to get married (watch for that post on April 27th!) So…we didn’t have any engagement pictures taken, but I do have a few shots from the weekend we were engaged (a weekend I will never forget!)

BONUS SHOT…this is Jonathan back in FL taking a picture of what he is going to wear when we got married (with some type of mock tie!)

A Tour de Cure

March 11, 2010

Jonathan, Cody and I decided to participate in the “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day” a few months ago. I started researching volunteer opportunities and came across one that was perfect for us-the American Diabetes Association Tour de Cure 2010 at Lake Nona. It was a cause that meant something to us and we wanted to volunteer at a sporting event so we signed up. We volunteered for several hours cheering on the riders as they approached and crossed the finish line. The weather was perfect and the event seemed to run seamlessly. Disney’s “Give a Day. Get a Disney Day” promotion just ended within the last few weeks, which means that 1 million people have volunteered their time to earn a one-day, one-park Disney ticket. What an amazing contribution Disney made to all of these organizations that count on volunteers to not only thrive but survive and the awareness Disney brought of the need for volunteers. From what I understand Disney’s promotion was to go until the end of 2010 or until they reached 1 million volunteers-it’s only March and the promotion has ended-I think that says it all. I had my camera at the finish line of the race and caught a few great moments…

In between cyclists crossing the finish line Jonathan and Cody would practice their skills with the water bottles…

Oh my goodness…I can’t believe it has been a week since I have posted something on my blog. I have several posts that are in the works but then I realized it was already Tuesday again. So for this Traveling Tuesday I decided to finally highlight a place we have been to several times during our cruises-Cozumel, Mexico. We really like Cozumel and every time we have been there we have done something slightly different. On this particular trip to Cozumel we decided to rent a car and take a ride around the island. As is typical of us we ended up on the more “uninhabited” side of the island and decided to stop and spend a little bit of time on the beach at this little food joint we found on the side of the road. We played on the hammock, looked for sea shells and had some great authentic mexican food. After our time at the beach we headed back to the ship and decided we still had enough time to grab our snorkel gear and do a little snorkeling-you know we just kinda jumped in the water off the side of the road, not too far from the ship and swam around a little bit. That’s kinda how we do it and we like it. Here are a few shots of our day at the beach and us getting back on the ship after our little swim. It was a good day in Cozumel…

Every now and then I am going to dedicate a Traveling Tuesdays post to a future dream travel location for the Roots. A place that is definitely in one of my top five locations…Santorini, Greece…and can you blame me!
