How do you photograph kittens? Chase them around until they are exhausted and fall fast asleep! This was my first kitten photo shoot and I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. The kittens were very active and it took a lot to keep up with them-it was pretty much like shooting a sporting event. After about an hour or so of following them around, almost stepping on them as they crawled through my legs and finding their nose right up against my lens…they fell asleep! Bill and Ariel have rescued all of their feline friends and have now deemed themselves “crazy cat people”. Hey…if you are going to be crazy it might as well be over these adorable creatures…

For Our Fathers

June 20, 2010

A very prominent human need is that of protection and stability and father’s are an important part of providing that basic human need. My father is a man of few words but many actions and through his actions I am aware of his love for me at all times and have always felt a tremendous sense of peace and security because of his presence in my life. The things he taught me I will always know. They are engrained in me-part of who I am now. Our father’s have shaped our lives in ways they will never know. Sadly my husband lost his father several years ago when he was a teenager. Although my husband has not had the physical presence of his father, his father’s influence and spirit has been a part of his life always-his father is still influencing my husband’s life because of how he lived his life. On this Father’s Day we are thinking of our fathers and our grandfathers (whom we have also lost) and remembering what they give and gave to us and knowing that they are still providing for us that basic human need that we desire.

Daddy’s GirlJonathan with his father and familyUs with Grandpa HoffmanUs with Grandpa Wolfe…and I am forever grateful for my husband and the father he is to Cody. He has brought that human desire of stability and protection to his life not to mention his love, guidance and a connection that can only be between a father and son!

The Saturday Review

I am definitely not an avid gotta watch television every night t.v. watcher but I have my favorite shows and am so grateful for the invention of dvr (and dvd) so I can keep up on my own time. I love and appreciate a clever show with amazing writing and well thought out provocative characters that make me want to know them in real life. I love to get caught up in the characters and try to figure them out (I mean Dexter is real, right?) My son will actually use Friends scenarios in stories he is telling to make his point. Which brings me to my point of the Saturday Review…my favorite t.v. shows.

My top three:

Grey’s Anatomy’s season finale was amazing. I was beginning to wonder if I would continue with this show and now cannot wait to see what the writers have in store for us next season:

My all time favorite show that I own the entire 10 seasons of and could watch over and over again:

I would love to know what your favorite shows are. Click on comments below and leave a little review of your own.

My husband’s birthday was last weekend so we had a small get-together BBQ with a few friends. We grilled up some burgers, made some baked beans, had some chips and dip and then Carol (Jonathan’s agent & our friend) brought these amazing cheesy pepper thingys that we put on the grill along with one awesome pasta salad. I’m telling you those cheesy pepper thingys were really good-they were gone before I could get a picture (maybe I can get the recipe and share it!) Oh, and a few of Jonathan’s friends from Stirfry TV showed up-they have a fun channel on YouTube…you should check out here. It was our kind of party…laid back, a few friends, good food and great conversation to celebrate my hubby’s birthday.

The charter class of 2013 of the University of Central Florida College of Medicine held their Inaugural End of the Year Banquet. They called their event Hygeia.

Hy·ge·ia (hī-jēˈə)
noun
GR. MYTH. the goddess of health

A daughter of Asclepius and goddess of health.

What an amazing event and what an incredible time for these students. I just kept thinking the entire night how this class of 2013 is paving the way and creating traditions that will forever be a part of the UCF College of Medicine. The students not only conceived Hygeia but also created the precedent that will be followed for years to come. They honored each other, they honored the staff, they honored the faculty and administration and they honored the community. I have no doubt of the success of this first College of Medicine class and look forward to seeing what else they establish on their road to becoming doctors as the class of 2014 follows right behind them.

The moon as I left…making a statement if I do say so myself!

I have been making guacamole since college and it always seems to get rave reviews. I don’t really feel like I do anything special but people seem to like it so I thought I would share with you my guacamole making skills.

Here are the ingredients:

All I do is mash up the avocados, add some of the Rotel diced tomatoes and green chiles and sprinkle in some Lawry’s Seasoned Salt. I really feel like the Lawry’s may be the “secret” ingredient but who knows. And here is what you get:

We put guacamole on our sandwiches, burgers, tacos and just about anything else we can think of and sometimes we even just grab some chips and enjoy!

I adore this family and was so honored when they asked me to take pictures celebrating Matteo’s 6 months in this world. I took Matteo’s newborn pictures and shared with you pictures of Ashlei’s family and the Jimenez family last December. It seems I always forget how fast they grow-I mean Matteo is sitting up, wanting to walk around and certainly does not want to stay in one place too long! So we all made a trip over to Cocoa Beach Pier. It was a beautiful night and we had a great time playing with Matteo on the beach and watching as he decided he wanted to see what sand tasted like. Here they are…
