Archive for January, 2011

I am very excited to be making a trip in April to Texas to shoot the beautiful wedding of Angela and Brian so it worked out great that I was in Texas over the holidays and had the opportunity to do their engagment shoot. We actually started out at a park in Frisco that has some great Texas architecture (you know…bronze longhorns coming out of a wall!) We then headed over to downtown McKinney for the final shots. Angela and Brian have a fun love story that began with a “wink”…here is the continuation of that story…

YouTour 2011 kicked off on January 18th at the Osceola Performing Arts Center in Kissimmee. This was an event that was put together, arranged and produced by Stirfry TV. Performances from well-known YouTubers included: Rootberry, Cool Guy with Glasses, Avery, Michael Buckley from “What the Buck?” and Shane Dawson. I linked to all of their YouTube pages if you want to check out what they do. I was thrilled when asked to be the official photographer for the event, which all began with a Meet and Greet where all of the performers gathered to sign autographs and talk to the fans. We met people that came from Canada, North Carolina, California and the UK (oh and of course Florida!) The event was a huge success and I know Stirfry TV is hoping to take YouTour on the road to visit other cities. All of the performances were amazing, and being a YouTube event I think I was one of the few there taking still shots as everyone else was taping, so here is YouTour through my eyes…

During my Christmas trip to Texas to spend the holidays with my family I was fortunate enough to be able to fit in a few photo shoots and even more fortunate to get to meet the Hulsey family. So we headed on over to Frisco Square in the great city of Frisco-it was pretty chilly but did not seem to bother them one bit. I could tell in just the short time I spent with them that they are a close, loving and fun family-the family you want to go hang out with on a Friday night. And here they are…

Sweet Paula. This is how we commonly refer to my cousin and if you know her or ever get the opportunity to meet her you will understand why. During my trip to California I wanted to make sure we fit in a photo shoot for Paula. When Paula’s brother, Bobby, came to Orlando we did a little mini session so now it was Paula’s turn. My Aunt Patty hopped into a few of the shots for some special mother/daughter time. It was cold…it was windy…and here is what I got…

And a bonus friend shot…

A family Christmas photo shoot in front of an amazing tree with an incredible family. Can’t ask for better than that.  I loved Carson’s adorable mini version of True Religion jeans and managed to get a few shots in of those. So we played with the tree, tried to see if any of the ornaments would bounce like a ball, sang some songs, ate some cheerios and played the piano. A perfect photo shoot in my book.

Pure joy. There is no way to describe what you are feeling when this new little life is placed into your arms. Just a few weeks prior to Harper’s arrival Andrea and Ed had their maternity session, which you can see here and here. Andrea had a feeling Harper would arrive a little early-mother’s tend to know these things. Everyone got their wish when little Harper arrived right before Thanksgiving…and with one beautiful head of dark hair! So at one week old I got to hold this amazing new life in my arms and there is nothing like it and no other feeling except pure joy. We had a great time and even got to put Harper in the special Christmas outfit Grandma sent!

It was time. Time for a fresh new look. Over the last several months, when I began trying to decide what that new look would be I began collecting items that inspired me. I then decided to write down words that I liked, related to and felt a connection with. Those words included:

sentimental          nostalgic
authentic          pure
genuine          loyal
tradition          tranquility
peaceful          rustic
primitive          simple
unsophisticated          unpretentious
humble          comfort
cherish          hopeful
spiritual          grace

These words represent who I am and therefore what Cheri Root Photography is.

So…announcing a new fresh look…

If you missed Pt. 1 it’s here. For Pt. 2 I included a few wedding details, a little dancing and a few shots for the family…

And a bonus video of Laura & Jeremy’s wedding day…filmed and edited by my hubby

This was a special wedding for us. Jeremy is my husband’s brother. He asked me to photograph their wedding before he even proposed so I kinda knew what his plans were! We flew to San Diego, California to be a part of Jeremy and Laura’s special day. The weather was absolutely perfect and the venue was amazing-a little white old farmhouse church with wooden pews sitting on several acres of land surrounded by trees and tractors. We had family that flew in from Washington, North Carolina, Minnesota, Arizona and of course Florida. I felt honored to capture their day and thought I would start off by sharing the first part of their day with you. Next up…the reception and a few shots just for the fam!
