The University of Pittsburgh Alumni Association held a special event for Pitt alumni members at the Lake Nona Country Club called Spotlight on Pitt. This event was actually scheduled for last February, 2010…but due to a terrible snow storm (scratch that…blizzard!) their staff was unable to fly to Orlando to host the event. Thankfully it was re-scheduled for this year and the weather held out for them in Pittsburgh although we can’t say the same for Orlando-this was the night that Orlando had a major bout of thunderstorm and tornado warnings! I can definitely vouch for the loyalty and dedication of the central Florida based Pitt alumni-they braved the weather and had an amazingly successful event! The university’s Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg took center stage as he addressed alumni on the advancements, growth and present state of the University of Pittsburgh. He even included some fun stats-such as Pitt being ranked as one of the top ten schools with the happiest students. Here is the Spotlight on Pitt

The wedding of Camielle and Daniel was a beautiful mix of two different cultures and traditions. Uniqueness is what stands out to me most at weddings and this was a very special part of their wedding day. Camielle was married in her traditional wedding gown and then 1/2 way through the reception she changed into a traditional asian gown and that is what she left in. I shot this wedding with Mandy Austin and Andy Storey of Love Storey Photography and had a fantastic time. It was a perfect Orlando day, an amazing couple, super fun bridesmaids and groomsmen…and a ring shot that is…well, YOWZA!

Love Around the World

My husband travels quite a bit. Whenever he is scuba diving, snorkeling, walking along the beach or taking a hike he is looking. Looking for heart shaped rocks, coral and shells for me. He has done this since we met. And I have saved them all. They are from everywhere. All around the world. I grabbed a few to share with you. And Fizz. We love her too.

Happy Hearts Day from around the world…

The plan was for the entire Root family to go to Texas for Christmas but that did not work out-Jonathan got a last minute cruise ship gig and had to miss our trip to Texas (sad face). We wanted to have the entire family together for a Christmas Eve family photo shoot so…we were minus one but, as always, he was there in spirit and we all missed him. My Mom and Dad live in Frisco, Texas which is north of Dallas. Cody and I flew into Dallas and we all drove down to Richmond, Texas (right outside of Houston) to my sister’s house for the holiday. My sister Shelley and her husband James have four children-my niece Emily and my nephews James, Aaron and Daniel. It meant so much to me to spend Christmas with my family all together and I hope to share that soon as well. This is my family whom I love with all I am.

Oh sweet Lukas! Kristi and Jere have scheduled photo shoots to document Lukas’s first year-what an amazing gift Krisi and Jere have given not only themselves but also given Lukas. It began with his newborn shoot and this is the second in the series-Lukas at 4 months. I fell in love with so many of the shots and even chose to use one of the images of Lukas as my new business card and opening website image (see below.) And…when you get super good drool and bubbles at a photo shoot what more could you ask for. I am already looking forward to Lukas’s 6 month photo shoot. I adore this family and feel honored to be capturing these moments for them…

The authentic, genuine and peacefulness of this image is why I chose to use it as my new business card and opening website image. This shot melts my heart…Check out Lukas and Maverick…they’re having a staring contest!
