The Duane Family is a very special family. I have known Shawna for about 5 years. She married Mike this year after he proposed to her while swimming with the dolphins at Sea World. Mike has two adorable little girls-Kylie and Mackenzie. Now Mike, Shawna, Kylie and MacKenzie are the Duane Family. Mike’s parents-Grandma and Grandpa-also joined in on the photo shoot, which made it even better! This is an amazingly close family and I was honored to capture that for them. This photo shoot meant a lot to this family-Mike serves our country in the Air Force and will be leaving for Afghanistan in January.  So, I headed to Melbourne and this is their day…

Oh, and they are all Miami Dolphins fans…you’ll see (and it will give you a hint as to what Mike does in the Air Force!)

My nephew Aaron just had his 13th birthday. Officially a teenager. So I thought he should have some cool teenager pictures to show off. And just as fate would have it Aaron found his way to Orlando from Texas via his grandparents and we had a whirlwind week. Go-Kart racing, kneeboarding at the Cable Park, chocolate making at the Chocolate Factory, Universal Studios, Wet ‘N Wild, Wonderworks and more! The week was so busy but we managed to squeeze in (and I mean squeeze in barely) a 5-minute photo shoot. Here’s what I captured of Aaron in 5-minutes.

Bobby was visiting from California and I wanted to get a few shots of him so we went down the street from my house and did a short 20 minute mini photo shoot. So this is my cousin-he lives in California, works in the film department for Universal, loves dirt bikes, snowboarding, wake skating, and yes ladies he is single!

I did a photo shoot for Team Rootberry a few months back that you can see here. At the time we discussed doing a more casual, laid back shoot. So, after seeing Linda & Angel’s engagement session they decided they wanted to take advantage of a great location.  It was very cold and very windy but also very fun (and we stopped and got pizza at Gino’sdowntown-bonus!) Here’s a sneak peek…more to come later.

Linda is a fellow photographer. Her and I have worked together behind the camera shooting several weddings and she shot a few promo shots of me for my website, but this was the first time Linda and I worked together where she was in front of the camera and I was behind-and we had a GREAT time! Linda and her fiance Angel are getting married next month and I was honored when Linda asked me to shoot their wedding. We met up last weekend to take their engagement pictures and had a blast exploring downtown. Surprisingly I had not really explored downtown too much except for the Lake Eola and Thornton Park area. We found so many different places and I am ready to go back and explore some more! Angel was so fun to work with-you can tell he lives with a photographer-he knew where to stand, how to pose and where to look and just what to do in general (sure made my job easy!) I had a lot of favorites…here are just a few.

Ashley: A Bridal Session

January 28, 2010

The plane landed in Texas, Ashley picked me up and off we went for her beautiful bridal shoot. In the few months leading up to her photo shoot, Ashley and I had already decided on an outdoor setting to take advantage of some of the amazing landscape in Texas but that was not meant to be. The week I was preparing to leave for Texas, Ashley wrote to me in a panic-RAIN forecasted all day Saturday, the day of our shoot! So we talked, discussed alternative plans and I rented an amazing and powerful lens that could handle any situation we came across (the 50 f/1.2!) Ashley went into action and booked two absolutely fabulous places to shoot-the Magnolia Hotel in downtown Houston (with the most amazing green velvet couch EVER!) and the Alexan Lofts (Ashley used to live there so it was perfect and if I lived in Houston I would so live there!) Ashley looked stunning, I loved her feather and her shoes rocked! Oh, and check out the pictures of her bouquet-it is made out of wood (I was so nervous every time I had to move the bouquet-not sure how fragile shaved, intricate wood is and I wasn’t about to find out.) Ashley is marrying her love, Michael, in Las Vegas at the Stratosphere in June. I wish them all the love and happiness in the world…

Cody and I had a great time doing a little mini photo shoot the other day. He needed some updated photos (new haircut and all!) I am a proud Mom and think I have a pretty good looking son. He is out of town right now…I sure miss him!

Well Matteo has definitely been the STAR of my blog lately and I am certainly happy about that! Ashlei and I were just talking about how we hadn’t seen each other in three years and have now seen each other twice in the last month. That is something great that photography has brought into my life-new friends and re-kindled old friends! On the day that I shot the Whitehurst family (Ashlei’s family) I also got some great shots of Ashlei’s new little family-her, her husband and little, adorable, precious Matteo!

Wishing the Jimenez Family a very Merry Christmas!

It was a beautiful day for a family photo shoot. A few weeks ago I did a photo shoot of the new addition to this family, Matteo, and was thrilled to have the opportunity to photograph the entire family. So Kit, Julie, Ian, Ross, Ashlei, Felipe and Matteo all gathered together and weathered the 85 degree December Florida weather. We had a perfect day and the Whitehurst’s have an absolutely beautiful home on the lake in Merritt Island so we had the perfect backdrop for some great family photos. And I absolutely LOVE their adirondack chairs-so cute-as soon as I saw them I knew I had to use them! Matteo’s great-grandma and great-grandpa showed up so we captured a few special memories for them. What a wonderful family and what a fabulous day!

My Most Wonderful: Parents

December 5, 2009

My Mom and Dad were in Orlando visiting for Thanksgiving and prior to them coming my Mom had told me that she wanted some pictures of her and my Dad. It was so fun planning the photo session with my Mom-what they would wear, where we would go, how I would have them pose (as my Mom reminded me that they were not “young” anymore-what did she think I was going to make them do!) We had a few challenges that day-it was hot, the sun was beating down and very bright and my Mom didn’t have her non-glare glasses…with all that we ended up with some amazing shots (and no “weird, young people poses!”) My Mom is getting an 11×14 of her favorite for her birthday and I can’t wait to order it and send it off, especially since her birthday was last month!

My parents left the Monday after Thanksgiving and they are missed so much…
